New Music Monday: Holiday Music on KUVO Jazz
The annual Holiday edition of New Music Monday will feature new Hanukkah and Christmas releases from Colorado and national artists. Tune in to this annual tradition that kicks off the holiday music on KUVO.

KUVO listeners will enjoy new holiday jazz releases and classic favorites throughout December.

Domi Edson Trio, A Jazz Hanukah (recorded at Bonfils-Stanton Performance Studio)
Domi Edson is an emerging force as a jazz bassist and composer originally from Seattle and now residing in Denver. She has already made an impact as an artist, having played as a bandleader at Dazzle (Denver, CO), Frankie’s Jazz Club (Vancouver, B.C.), The Royal Room (Seattle), Yardbird Suite (Edmonton, AB), and live on KUVO 89.3, as well as at the Five Points Jazz Festival, and at the International Society of Bassists Conference. As a Side woman, Domi has performed with Terrell Stafford, Jason Marsalis, Charles McPherson, Tia Fuller, Greg Gisbert, Dawn Clement, Gayelynn McKinney, Ben Markley, and many more. Reminiscent of groups like the Ray Brown and Oscar Peterson Trios, the Domi Edson Trio performs a unique collection of new and reimagined music and has three records to their name (Without the Re, Stories from Solitude, and new release A Jazzy Hanukkah). Domi is joined by her trio-mates Spencer Zweifel on piano and Bobby Wiens on drums.

Allan Harris Quintet: Nat King Cole Christmas Show (LIVE from KUVO’s Masterpiece Studio)
With Allan Harris on vocals and Guitar, Irwin Hall on sax, Arcoiris Sandoval on piano, Marty Kenney on bass, and Norman Edward on drums. Allan Harris is a Brooklyn-born, Harlem-based guitarist, singer, songwriter, and band leader. He has been called the “Jazz Vocal King of New York” and described as possessing a voice with “the warmth of Tony Bennett, the bite and rhythmic sense of Sinatra, and the sly elegance of Nat ‘King’ Cole.” Allan is bringing his full band for this live presentation of his 2009 album “Dedicated to You.” The Allan Harris Band has mesmerized audiences in over 20 countries around the globe, 30 prestigious international jazz festivals, and many of the world’s most famous music venues.

Join your merry Thursday Jazz Odyssey maestro, Dele, as he orchestrates a playlist adorned with soulful and funky twists on classic Christmas, Hanukkah, and Kwanzaa tunes. Glide through the winter wonderland of holiday-inspired jazzy originals that’ll make your spirits soar. Featured in this magical ensemble are the talents of Baby Rose, Braxton Cook, Khruangbin, L.Dre, Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings, and more!

Annie Booth Trio & Friends: Charlie Brown Christmas (recorded live at Dazzle Denver)
Acclaimed pianist and bandleader Annie Booth and her longtime bandmates bassist Patrick McDevitt and drummer Alejandro Castano celebrate the 10th year of their popular Denver holiday tradition. The trio will be joined by vocalists Bailey Hinkley Grogan, Jenna McLean, and Marion Powers. Experience Vince Guaraldi’s timeless soundtrack performed in front of an intimate live audience in downtown Denver.

Jazz Piano Christmas
Your favorite holiday classics as you’ve never heard them! The Kennedy Center and NPR present A Jazz Piano Christmas, the annual sell-out event featuring jazz-infused renditions of the season’s most-loved music. Host Felix Contreras spotlights remarkable pianist, vocalist, and actress Melvis Santa—whose eclectic Afro-Cuban style has made her one of the most electrifying artists on the scene—in addition to internationally acclaimed Cuban composer and jazz pianist Alfredo Rodriguez.

Host Adam Morgan shares a soundtrack for a holiday evening to just kick back and check out the neighborhood holiday lights from your window. Blending the music arrangements of Dave Koz, Brian Culbertson, Mindi Abair, Jessy J, Marcus Anderson, Darren Rahn, Adam Hawley, and others in a special celebratory holiday playlist.

Celebrate the holiday with host Pocho Joe as he plays some of the best Chicano Rock from Tish Hinojosa to Los Lonely Boys, Los Lobos, and of course, El Vez and many others.

The Annual Salsa con Jazz Christmas Show hosted by Arturo Gómez!
Arturo will be sharing Christmas music from many different countries and regions of América Latina. This year’s edition will include several new releases as well as the classic sounds of Navidad that will serve as the perfect soundtrack for your Christmas Eve preparations.

NPR Music’s Alt. Latino presents a 2015 encore featuring songwriter/performer Gaby Moreno and her band performing tracks from her popular holiday album Posada – recorded live at the KUT studios in Austin, Texas. She was joined by special guests Gina Chavez and Chicano Zen bandleader and record producer Michael Ramos. Hosted by Felix Contreras.

This year’s Jazz Night in America holiday special will feature drummer Matt Wilson’s Christmas Tree-O; a ruckus band recorded at Jazz at Lincoln Center that flips seasonal songs on their head while inserting humor and joyful swing and new takes on classics in this special episode. Christian McBride hosts.
