Minorities invited to Denver’s neighborhood movement

“Neighborhoods work better when they work together.”  So says the subtitle at the website for Denver Inter-Neighborhood Cooperation, a volunteer run not-for-profit coalition of representatives from more than 100 registered neighborhood organizations in  Denver (RNOs).   Larry Ambrose (DenverINC’s board president, representing the Sloan’s Lake Neighborhood Association) shared his passion for neighborhoods on First Take.

Ambrose appealed for more involvement from minorities, GLBT and ethnic, in the neighborhood movement.  “The responsiveness of elected officials has to be more than once every four years,” Ambrose said.  “The way to do that is to give voice to your neighborhood groups, to get involved.”

According to Ambrose, most people don’t realize the impact of neighborhood level decision-making on city-wide politics, and DenverINC helps groups stay in the loop regarding city zoning, developments, liquor licenses and marijuana licenses, and taxes.
