Celebrating Black History…

Congratulations to General Manager and Program Director Nikki Swarn of THE DROP 104.7 FM (KUVO HD2) as we celebrate THE DROP’S one-year anniversary on the terrestrial dial at 104.7! KUVO is proud to be your sister station!

Nikki Swarn is a dynamic media and entertainment executive with over 23 years of radio experience. As the first African-American woman GM in radio in the state of Colorado, Nikki has overseen all programming, including original content production and partnerships for the station’s broadcast channel and digital platforms for Denver’s newest radio. She continues to increase community impact by building capacity and providing experiential learning opportunities for all Coloradoans. Her vision to establish brand continuity through the commitment as a community institution, development of strategic partnerships, and collaborations that extend the station’s relationship and position as a community stakeholder have garnered her and the station’s national attention.

Under her leadership, 104.7 THE DROP has been named Westword Magazine’s Best New Radio Station 2020 and Best Music Radio Station in 2021, won a Colorado Broadcaster Association Award for Best Public Affairs Radio Program, and has been nominated for an EMMY. Nikki has facilitated enrichment programs through the University of Denver titled “Revolutionary Radio,” engaged in countless community outreach and service projects including the virtual graduation for Gateway High School’s class of 2020 and 2021, HUGS for H.E.R.O.E.S. campaign in support of frontline workers during COVID-19, Back to the People Festival (for independent musicians) in Colorado Springs, DU Prison Arts Program and countless other programs. She developed a robust independent music movement through the radio station that includes regular rotation for Colorado hip-hop and R&B artists. She has advocated for and implemented podcast opportunities featuring youth from the Montbello area (Voices of Montbello and Know Justice Know Peace), as well as establishing the station as an educational training facility for future radio programmers and broadcasters. She has been a guest speaker at music and entertainment conferences, colleges, and universities around the world.
