While the large-scale Telluride Jazz Festival has run its course for this year, there is one more big summer event to go – the Vail Jazz Party that takes place over the Labor Day weekend (September 2-6). Sponsored by the Vail Jazz Foundation, Vail Jazz Festival is of course more than a single event. Rather it is a series of multiple events that run over the summer into the fall.

On Saturday at 10 p.m., guitarist/singer D.J. Williams is at Dazzle with Shots – a band that includes bassist Kirwan Brown, a player with his own connection to Denver.

Saturday also finds the Colorado Jazz Repertory Orchestra (CJRO) at the Arvada Center outdoors doing the music of the “Horn Bands of the ‘60s and ‘70s” at 7:30 p.m. with Larry Braggs, the longtime singer with Tower of Power.
