April is Jazz Appreciation Month, and on Thursday, April 18, KUVO celebrates Latin and Salsa music with a specially curated all-day playlist, and capped off with a live performance by The Colorado Mambo Septet from KUVO’s Masterpiece Studio, starting at 6 p.m. Then, at 7 p.m., there’s a television screening of the documentary “The Last Mambo” on Rocky Mountain PBS.

The Colorado Mambo Orchestra was created two and a half years ago and performs a wide repertoire of Cuban, Caribbean, Brazilian, and Latin Jazz music. The group size varies from a quartet to a 12-piece ensemble, and all the way to symphonic proportions (including three performances with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra at Boettcher Hall).

Performers include Cynthia Casañas-Garín (lead vocalist), Vince Wiggins (flute), Cian Krueger (saxes), Peter Huffaker (upright baby bass), Leo Corona (congas and background vocals), Howard Hernandez (timbales and background vocals) and Raul Murciano, Jr. (acoustic piano).

Don’t miss the Jazz Appreciation Month celebration of Latin and Salsa music on Thursday, April 18, with a live performance of The Colorado Mambo Septet, on the air, on the stream, on the app, and livestreamed on KUVO’s YouTube and Twitch channels, at 6 p.m. And at 7 p.m., tune in to a television screening of “The Last Mambo” on Rocky Mountain PBS.

LIVE performances on KUVO JAZZ are supported by Bonfils Stanton Foundation, Drum City Guitarland, Grace Design Pro Audio, Listen Up, Flesher-Hinton Music in Wheat Ridge, the donors of the Carlos Lando Musician & Event Fund, and KUVO’s Studio Club members.
