Rolando Garcia

Co-Host, R&B Jukebox

Rolando Garcia says he was bitten by the radio bug at the age of sixteen when he began broadcasting bilingual headline news for the small country-western AM station in his hometown of Douglas, AZ. He hosted a live daily 4-hour rock and roll show while in the service in Clovis, NM and later a 2-hour weekly show on a free-form station in Tucson. Rolando has been a KUVO volunteer since 1996. He was the originator and host of the R&B Jukebox from 1997 to 2003, when, because of his travel schedule, he handed the mic to Easy Bill. Currently, Rolando fills in for Mama Kat on Rockin’ and Rhythm and also still hosts several of the R&B Jukebox “specials” during the year, including the Christmas, New Orleans and Gospel programs. If you listen closely, you’ll also hear his voice on many KUVO recordings.

Join hosts Easy Bill and Rolando Garcia on Saturday night, August 4 from 6-8pm as they celebrate 20 years of the R&B Jukebox! They’ll be spinning some of the iconic hits as well as their personal favorites, and will be sharing the history and memories of the show from the past two decades.

Whether you’ve been listening since 1998 or just recently discovered The Jukebox, tune in to celebrate this radio milestone this Saturday night from 6-8pm on KUVO Jazz.

It’s Springtime and that special time of year again, it’s time for the annual R&B Jukebox Gospel Show!

R&B is deeply rooted in music from the gospel and spiritual traditions.  And every year, on the night before Easter,  we celebrate that sound on the R&B Jukebox Gospel show.

It’s familiar R&B artists like BB King, Sam Cooke, and Solomon Burke, with some of gospel music’s greatest artists.  And it all sounds like Rhythm and Blues!

Join Rolando Garcia this Saturday at 6pm for the annual R&B Jukebox Gospel Show.
