Studio Club: Lenore Raphael & Steve Hobbs

We welcome pianist Lenore Raphael back to the Studio Club, with vibraphonist Steve Hobbs on Thursday, May 9 from noon to 1pm. Lenore Raphael  has been critically acclaimed as “simply one of the best pianists in the jazz mainstream”.  Steve Hobbs has been called one of the TOP 10 vibraphonists today by DownBeat magazine. They met performing in December in North Carolina and it was instant connection. She has played with the two other musicians Ken Walker, many times on visits to Colorado. Ken Walker is one of the premier bassists in Colorado. Jesse Simon is from Boulder and she met him through a friend.  He heads the Hard Bop Collective in Minneapolis. All 4 musicians have strong Colorado connections. They will be playing mostly jazz standards and a couple of Lenore Raphael original tunes very much in the mainstream of jazz.
