Saturday, January 22, marks the birthday of the father of soul music, Sam Cooke!

Sam Cooke put the spirit of the gospel sound into popular music and created a new American sound. This genius left an immeasurable imprint on music, and on society. We will spend this week’s show celebrating Sam Cooke’s contributions as a singer, songwriter, producer, and a champion of civil rights.

You’ll hear brilliant performances by Sam Cooke, and unique interpretations of his compositions by artists such as Ray Charles, The Miracles, Little Anthony & The Imperials, Bobby Womack, The Supremes, and other surprise artists!

Your host Ricky Moseley drops the needle on Saturday, January 22, at 6 pm. Only on KUVO JAZZ!
