The High School / Collegiate Series is proud to present the Denver Jazz Club Youth All-Stars to the Phyllis A. Greer performance studio on Tuesday, June 11 from 7 to 8pm. The band will perform traditional New Orleans style jazz music for the Studio Club.

The Denver Jazz Club Youth All-Stars, composed of Denver metro musicians from four various high schools, has been in existence since October of 2009. The band has been featured with many professional bands including the 101st Colorado Army Dixieland Band, the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Your Fathers Mustache Band, and the Queen City Jazz Band. The Denver Jazz Club Youth All-Stars have performed at the Evergreen Jazz Festival, the Denver Vintage Jazz Festival, the Sacramento Jazz Festival, the Montreux, Switzerland Jazz Festival, the Assisi, Italy Music Festival, the Umbria, Italy Jazz Festival, and the Expo in Citta Festival (Milan, Italy). The All-Stars have also performed on concert tours to New Orleans and New York City.

The DJC Youth All-Stars: Ivan Martin-clarinet, junior at Chatfield HS; Nathan Bailey-tenor sax, junior at Chatfield HS; Abby Husted-trumpet, freshman at Chatfield HS; Thomas Neal-trombone, junior at Douglas County HS; Ben Jablonski-banjo, junior at Chatfield HS; Christie Macfarlane-piano, senior at Highlands Ranch HS; Owen Metz-piano, freshman at Mountain Vista HS; Ben Husted-bass, senior at Chatfield HS; Carl Enger-tuba, sophomore at Lakewood HS; Antonio Giovanetti-drums, junior at Bear Creek HS; and Isaiah Kim-drums, freshman at Grandview HS.

The band was recently featured in Seton Hall (New Jersey) University’s Concert Series, back in March, and performed on a concert tour to New York City in July. The 2018-19 Denver Jazz Club Youth All-Stars, who performed in the 2018 Sacramento Hot Jazz Jubilee over Labor Day Weekend, have been invited to perform an opening concert at the January 2019 Colorado Music Educators Clinic Conference at the Broadmoor Hotel. They have been selected to make return summer performances at the 2019 Montreux, Switzerland International Jazz Festival, and the Kongsberg, Norway International Jazz Festival, during the same week.
