We’re excited to have the Walter Gorra Quartet back for Studio Club…this time with a special guest! Join us on Friday, March 29 from noon to 1pm. As both a composer and a performer, Walter tries to present music that is informed by my life experience. Gorra’s recently released album, ‘In Due Time’ is inspired by the many friends, family, and experiences that have led me to this point in my musical career. For example, the final cut on the record is entitled ‘Rumba pa’ Senen’ – which is a Cuban Rumba dedicated to his grandfather Senen Gorra, who passed away in January 2018. The composition combines the effects that his Cuban and Honduran heritage have had on his musical identity with his memories of my grandfather.

For Walter Gorra, music is a way to express oneself in a way that is often more powerful than words. Through his compositions and his playing, he can describe people, places, and experiences in the best way possible. His debut album, ‘In Due Time,’ is really a snapshot of many of the events and people that have influenced him as a musician and as a person. He hopes that through this music he can bring a little bit of joy into the life of the listener.

The quartet: Walter Gorra-piano, Gonzalo Teppa-bass, Greg Tanner Harris-vibraphone, Manuel Lopez-drums, and guest artist TBA.
