This Saturday on The R&B Jukebox, we’ll celebrate Hitsville, USA, as we present the 2nd annual Motown Memorial Day Weekend Show!

Arguably the most influential movement in R&B/Soul history, Motown Records’ importance is immeasurable!  In 1959, Berry Gordy changed the rules for how music would be produced, recorded, and presented to the public. That Motown sound crossed all musical, social and economic boundaries, and inspired generations of musicians and music fans around the world.

Imagine a world without Marvin Gaye, Dianna Ross & The Supremes, The Temptations, Smokey Robinson & The Miracles, Stevie Wonder, The Four Tops, The Jackson 5, and The Commodores.  You’ve just imagined a world without Motown Records. On this week’s R&B Jukebox, we will celebrate the genius of Berry Gordy, as well as the most impressive roster of performers and songwriters in popular music history.  We’ll play some familiar favorites, and dig into the R&B Jukebox Vault to feature some deep cuts from artists that you may be less familiar with.
