KUVO Jazz is pleased to welcome the Ken Walker Trio to its brand new Bonfils-Stanton Performance Studio, today Thursday, February 10 at 5 pm. The music will be LIVE on the radio, KUVO’s stream, and via the KUVO app.

Walker, known as the Rocky Mountain Region’s “first call bassist,” carries a humility that belies his musical fortitude on such a big instrument.  His credits are deep and wide (Pharaoh Sanders, Phil Woods, Eddie Harris, Hilton Ruiz, John Abercrombie, Randy Brecker, Clark Terry, Roy Hargrove, Ravi Coltrane, Emily Remler, Marlena Shaw, Dakota Staton, to name a dozen).

Ken Walker was house bassist at Denver’s legendary “El Chapultepec” for a dozen years in the 80s and 90s, and his groups have played monthly at Dazzle for a least a decade. His CD release “Terra Firma” still delights as it did when it climbed the jazz charts in 2005.

Drummer for the trio is music educator (CU–Denver) Todd Reid, who has his own list of stellar credits, including Curtis Fuller, Jon Hendricks, David “Fathead” Newman, Lew Tabackin, and many others.

Guitarist Dave Corbus rounds out this Denver-based power trio. Also, as a music educator (CU-Boulder), Corbus’s range of styles has found him engagements with Wycliffe Gordon, Plas Johnson, Joey DeFrancesco, and others.

While COVID protocols are in place, there are no live audiences for these broadcast performances at KUVO Studios.

LIVE performances on KUVO Jazz are supported by The Bonfils-Stanton Foundation, Schmitt Music in Englewood, Drum City Guitar Land, Listen Up, and Grace Design Pro Audio, with support from KUVO’s Studio Club and Beat Collective members.

Be sure to tune in for the Ken Walker Trio, LIVE on KUVO Jazz, today…Thursday, February 10 at 5 p.m. A KUVO JAZZ exclusive!
