KUVO presents a live performance from the Rico Jones Quintet at KUVO’s Bonfils – Stanton Performance Studio on Wednesday, July 6 at 7:00 p.m.
Since graduating from Denver School of the Arts and being recognized by KUVO Jazz as a “30 Under 30” artist in 2015, Jones has been studying at the Manhattan School of Music in New York. As well, he’s been picking up gigs with the likes of Bobby Watson, David Kikoski, Jeff “Tain” Watts, Jonathan Kreisberg, and others, playing at Carnegie Hall, Dizzy’s at Lincoln Center, and at Kennedy Center. Vincent Herring said, “Rico is one of the few original voices emerging.” Jones brings his N.Y. band to Dazzle at Baur’s on July 8-9.
For the KUVO session on July 6, Jones is putting together a one-hour set of original music, with his band including Max Light on guitar, Eric Gunnison on piano, Hunter Roberts on bass, and Braxton Kahn on drums.
