KUVO celebrates International Jazz Day with a LIVE broadcast of the Justin Kauflin Trio on Tuesday, April 30 from Dazzle at Baur’s in downtown Denver. In November 2011, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) officially designated April 30 as International Jazz Day in order to highlight jazz and its diplomatic role of uniting people in all corners of the globe. International Jazz Day also culminates Jazz Appreciation Month.

Pianist Justin Kauflin began as a Suzuki violin student at age four. After losing total vision by age 11 and a decade of classical violin and piano, he switched to jazz piano in high school, and attended the Vail Jazz Workshop. He began performing jazz professionally at age 15, most notably with the Jae Sinnett Trio. His mentorship with Clark Terry was profiled in the Quincy Jones-produced documentary film “Keep On Keepin’ On” (2014).

Rodney Franks and Susan Gatschet will host this exclusive broadcast engagement with the Justin Kauflin Trio (Justin Kauflin-piano, Evan Gregor-bass and Jimmy MacBride-drums) on the next “Live from Dazzle,” this Tuesday night, April 30th (International Jazz Day) at 6:30 p.m., only on KUVO Jazz.
